A special message from the Benefit Event Committee and Staff Have you eaten a good book lately? We are pleased to announce that The Center for Book Arts' 2006 benefit will be held on Wednesday, April 5th, from 6-9pm. Chefs from the French Culinary Institute will collaborate with artists to create edible books based on this year's theme Books that Kill: Edible Mystery Thrillers. These artful, scrumptious morsels will be consumed on the evening of the benefit, along with delicious hors d'oeuvres and literary cocktails. This appetizing event unites artists, chefs, and food lovers in a celebration of books and culinary creativity. We are also pleased to be honoring Louise Bourgeois, Ed Colker, Ralph Ocker, Robert Sabuda, and Buzz Spector for their outstanding contribution to the field of book arts. This year's benefit celebration will also include a unique raffle featuring one of a kind, artist-made mystery boxes, as well as a silent auction featuring artists' books and prints. Participating artists include Tomie Arai, Ana Cordeiro, Gary Frost, Chitra Ganesh, Karen Gorst, Josh Harris, Barbara Henry, Rand Huebsch, Judy Ivry, Kumi Korf, Hedi Kyle, Emily Martin, Barbara Mauriello, Susan Mills, Richard Minsky, Carlos Motta, Benjamin Rinehart, John Ross, Peter Schell, Karina Skvirsky, Robert The, Juana Valdes, and Paul Wong. Please help us consume these one-of-a-kind edible books on the night of the benefit. There are various levels at which to participate: Taster tickets are $75 per person; Gourmet tickets are $125 per person and include one raffle ticket; Epicure tickets are $250 per person and include two raffle tickets; Connoisseur tickets are $500 per person and include four raffle tickets; and Gastronome tickets are $1,000 per person and include four raffle tickets and a special limited edition work.
