NEW! The Language of Pop-Ups
This workshop explores techniques for building noun-like pop-ups (formal structures) and verb-like pop-ups (movement and/or animation for those forms). Participants begin by learning basic tools and techniques of pop-up construction. We then learn how to build a variety of simple, versatile forms, and learn various ways of lifting those forms. The workshop would end with participants inventing their own combinations of forms and lifts. Throughout the workshop, participants explore and discuss the work of commercial pop-up engineers. In a two-day workshop, participants can expect to leave with a bound collection of 15-20 samples that can be used as a reference for further study and practice.
