poetry chapbooks

Since its inception in 1974, The Center for Book Arts has supported the production of beautiful presentations of the printed word. In 2005 we celebrated the Tenth Anniversary of our annual Chapbook Competition. Each year we invite manuscript submissions, and 600 to 1,000 poets respond. The winning manuscript is awarded with the publication of a beautifully designed, letterpress-printed, limited-edition chapbook printed and bound by artists at the Center for Book Arts. The edition is limited to 100 signed and numbered copies, ten of which are reserved for the author and the remainder of which will be offered for sale through the Center. The winning poet will also receive a cash award of $500, and a $500 honorarium for a reading.

Each year we also publish a chapbook by one of the Competition's judges. You can purchase these chapbooks below, and besides getting a beautiful book of outstanding poetry, you will be helping to support this internationally acclaimed program.

If you'd prefer to order by phone, please call (212) 481-0295.
