Readable Gallery Book Structures
Students in this workshop will learn four book structures that unfold and/or hang for ease of reading in a gallery environment. These structures resolve the (un)readability conundrum faced when creating book art for exhibition. Students will make a large, single sheet book using maps as metaphor and map fold structures; an un-cased binding that hangs from the ceiling to the wall for display; and Rory's flat and twisted hanging books. Depending on time we will build box containers for the last two projects. The class will cover bookbinding materials, tools and techniques in depth.
