A workshop that covers the gamut of creating your own paste papers with a number of book structures. Participants will learn how to make paste papers, exploring many tools and patterns. Once dry these papers will be used to make a number of books, including a pamphlet and a pop-up book with exposed sewn binding and wrap around cover. This workshop is designed for teachers, writers, artists, and anyone who loves to create a richer and expansive vocabulary for their work. Deadline to register: One week before the class starts. Maria Pisano April 28 - 29 , Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 4pm Maria Pisano Maria G. Pisano's oeuvre is published under the Memory Press imprint. In 2012 she is curating the exhibit "Book as Witness: The Artist’s Response" at the Center for Book Arts in NY. She has exhibited widely including the GBW 100th anniversary and "Maria Pisano: Books and Prints" at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as part of the Book FOR(u)Ms Book Artists Series, where she also curated an exhibit. She has presented papers at the ARLIS 2012 conference and at the first College Book Art Association Conference and curated other exhibits such as "The Elements: Creative Energy" at the Hunterdon Museum of Art. Memory Press books are in numerous collections including the Library of Congress, The University of Connecticut, University of Delaware, The New York Public Library, Stanford University, and Carnegie Mellon University. She teaches papermaking, printing, bookbinding and conservation and is an adjunct professor at Rosemont College in PA. She has taught at Rutgers University Library School and given workshops at venues such as The Center for Book Arts, Professione Libro in Italy and the Printmaking Center of NJ.
