Bookbinding II
Students will continue an overview of various traditional bookbinding techniques which will help them in choosing future topics to focus on. Students will complete 2 books using more advanced skills: a quarter leather hollow tube laced binding and a quarter leather tightback book sewn on raised cords. Leather paring and hand-sewn endbands will be featured. Prerequisite: Bookbinding I. Students should have the ability to make a flat-back case with confidence. Required course for certificate program.
Deadline to register: One week before class starts.

Susan Mills is a bookbinder who has operated her own bindery since 1990. She teaches hand bookbinding at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and her book works can be found in institutions and libraries throughout the United States and Canada. You can see her work at
