There are many benefits to membership in The Center for Book Arts. Scroll down the page or click the link to read about our membership categories

In order to continue mounting outstanding exhibitions, publish the finest artist's books, broadsides, chapbooks, and exhibition catalogs, and provide services to both emerging and established artists, we depend on your financial support. Thirty years ago we established an art center devoted to books as aesthetic objects, and our model has been copied by organizations across this country and abroad. We now have a Book Art Movement.  Please help us continue to advance the art of the book in our fourth decade! In an era of declining public support for the arts, your contribution is more important than ever.

Center for Book Arts, Incorporated 1974 is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

WORKSPACE & STUDIO RENTAL PROGRAM
The Center provides artists with low-cost workspace in our hand bindery and letterpress printshop facilities. This fully-equipped workshop allows artists to use special bookmaking tools and unique machinery that most would not have access to otherwise. The Center's facility includes a foundry type letterpress printshop with four Vandercook proof presses, a Charles Brand etching press, a 19th Century Washington hand press and several Peerless platen (clamshell) presses.

Bindery equipment includes a 36" power paper cutter, two board shears, a hot stamping press, three large standing presses, lying presses, and numerous nipping presses and sewing frames. Students and artists interested in working on their book projects can rent workspace at the Center and have access to this binding and printing equipment. Members pay only $15 per hour and non-members pay $25 per hour. Users of the printing presses, guillotine or hot stamping press must demonstrate a knowledge of the machine's proper operation. The Center also offers members use of the workspace by the month for $300, which allows unlimited usage during regular hours and includes a shelf for the storage of materials and works in progress. Monthly renters can also apply for after-hours access to the facility. For more information about workspace rentals contact the Center.
