Shaw is a 2010 recipient of a Wexner Art & Tech residency and 2009, 2007 residencies at the Vermont Studio Center. Recent awards include: Finalist for Painting, Annual Haym Salomon Arts Awards Competition; a 2009 and 2008 AVA gold awards for "Michaelís Snow" and for "The Mermaid Parade" which was also selected for the 2009 Coney Island Film Festival. Shaw has also received two New York State Artistís Fellowships and the Craft Kaleidoscope Award (for a hand printed and sewn book) from the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Public and corporate collections include: The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The International Museum of Photography and The Israel Museum.
