Margarita Lypiridou
Montreal, Canadawww.margaritalypiridou.com Margarita Lypiridou is a multidisciplinary visual artist who explores the media of painting, print, photography, artists’ books and video installation. She was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and studied applied arts, multimedia and photography in Greece and England. In 2002 she moved to Canada where she earned a Batchelor of Fine Arts in Print Media and a Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Studio Art at Concordia University in Montreal. She now teaches book arts and print media and continues to make art full time. Her current research includes investigations of the notion of time and movement, the interplay between memory and imagination, the subjective and the external, the constant and the ephemeral. Her projects in progress are attempting to denote the transient nature of things, beings and times; the moments of stillness that are extracted from the continuum of time, as they become metaphors for the volatility and futility of existence. These investigations are articulated in the combination of traditional and new media artworks. |
