My desire to create art comes from my search for the meaning of our existence. I use my artwork as a tool to understand others and myself. The most precious thing in my life is the growth process. Art is my guide and mentor. In subtle yet profound ways, my work reflects back to me the answers that I seek.

The history of books is deeply involved with human desire. Their passions are communication and inheritance. The beauty of books is their versatility and their meaning. I opened a door to create my own books.

I am an artist who combines different art fields such as printmaking, bookbinding, papermaking, photography, filmmaking and performance. Workshops are a part of my expression. It is very important for me to share my interests and knowledge and to see people’s reactions and thoughts. To teach is to be taught.

Yasuyo Tanaka's work appeared in the Vilnius Graphic Art Center in Lithuania.
