My book artwork relates back to the historical bindings I study and the models I teach. I look for examples of folk art decoration or mending on historical bindings, and those examples are often reflected in my structures. I have found a wealth of inspiration and possibilities in all the crazy ways people think of to mend a broken book and also in the ways they lay claim to their books by inscriptions and drawings and collage.
